green waste – verge collections

Green Waste Process Illustration

  1. 1Green waste is collected from the verge by your local council.
  2. 2It is taken to the SMRC for processing.
  3. 3The green waste is shredded to mulch.
  4. 4The processed mulch is then ready to use.

The Green Waste Processing Facility is open for the receipt of clean, green waste from residents, commercial operators and council verge collections.

The recently refurbished facility diverts 100% of green waste from landfill, to produce up to 30,000 tonnes of mulch and high quality soil conditioners per year.

Mulch is a beneficial soil conditioner as it increases moisture retention, suppresses weed growth and enriches Western Australia’s sandy soils.
